Concern Worldwide is a non-governmental, international, humanitarian organization dedicated to the reduction of suffering and working towards the ultimate elimination of extreme poverty in the world’s poorest countries.
Concern targets the countries ranked in the bottom 40 of the United Nations Human Development Report. At present, we work in 28 countries in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean—reaching five and a half million people in the past year.
With nearly 40 years experience delivering humanitarian aid in emergencies caused by calamity or armed conflict, Concern is always among the first wave of responders and reliably among the last to leave. Our mission is to help people living in extreme poverty achieve major improvements in their lives that last and spread without ongoing support from Concern. Our role is to ensure that people living in extreme poverty are able to meet their basic needs, achieve their rights and manage their own development. We do so by working with communities and by using our shared experience and knowledge to address the root causes of extreme poverty.
Our programs focus on emergency response, health, nutrition, HIV&AIDS, education, microfinance, skills training and income-generating initiatives.
