Concern Worldwide Responds to Pakistan Flood Emergency with U.S. Support
As record-breaking monsoon floods devastate communities across Pakistan, Concern Worldwide, in partnership with dedicated NGO partners, and with the generous support of the U.S. Department of State, is delivering urgent assistance in Buner district, one of the hardest-hit areas in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
More than 5.8 million people across Pakistan have been affected by this year’s floods. In Buner, the situation is particularly severe — where poverty levels were already high and many families were facing food insecurity before the disaster. Homes, essential goods, and access to clean water have been lost.
Responding to Urgent Needs in Buner

Between June and August, flash floods caused widespread damage in Buner. The UN OCHA Rapid Needs Assessment (August 2025) found that 62,767 individuals (8,967 households) were in urgent need of shelter and essential non-food items, while 84% of households reported unmet WASH (Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene) needs.
With funding from the U.S. Department of State, Concern is supporting affected families with:
- Kitchen sets for 700 households
- Bedding kits for 1,000 households
- Winter clothing kits for 1,440 households
- Hygiene kits for 500 households
- Dignity kits for 700 households
- Hygiene promotion sessions for over 1,200 people in 60 communities
These interventions are designed not only to meet immediate survival needs, but also to restore dignity, protect health, and reduce the risk of disease in the aftermath of the floods. To date, Concern has reached over 556 households with lifesaving assistance.
