Chef Gabe Kennedy Joins Concern Worldwide As Our Newest Ambassador

Chef Gabe Kennedy, Winner of ABC's "The Taste", Joins Concern Worldwide As Our Newest Ambassador and Takes On the Live Below the Line Challenge

Concern Worldwide is thrilled to welcome Chef Gabe Kennedy, winner of Season Three of ABC’s “The Taste” and Visiting Executive Chef at Bon Appetit, as our newest ambassador. His first initiative will be to take on the Live Below the Line challenge in support of Concern and in solidarity with the people we work with everyday who live in extreme poverty.

Live Below the Line is a campaign that asks people to live on $1.50 a day for five days, from April 27th through May 1st. For the 1.2 billion people who live below the poverty line, $1.50 a day has to pay for everything, from food to healthcare, education, water, and clothing. The campaign is a way for people to raise awareness and funds to combat extreme poverty.

As our ambassador, Gabe will not only live below the line himself, but he will also travel to Haiti with us to see our work firsthand. From there, he will create original recipes and content inspired by the people and food of Haiti to encourage people to join the campaign and help them live on $1.50 a day.

About Gabe Kennedy

As a chef, world traveler and environmental advocate, Gabe is passionate and dedicated to connecting people, food and culture. Making a positive impact through adventurous, healthy and innovative cuisine, his mission is to inspire people to explore the kitchen, their senses, and rediscover the joys of cooking.

Raised in Boulder, Colorado in a household of healers, Gabe learned the importance of food as a universal language. His culinary journey began at the young age of 14 in local Boulder restaurants. By 18, he was honing his skills under David Bouley at the eponymous Bouley in Tribeca. With additional experience at esteemed establishments, Eleven Madison Park, Cru, and Blue Hill at Stone Barns, Gabe has also been a private chef for a number of tastemakers, professional athletes, and dignitaries, including The Clinton Family.

He has also consulted on operations and product development for organic food and lifestyle brands such as Skratch Labs, Brad’s Raw Foods, Little Duck Organics, and Big Tree Farms. He is a graduate of Cornell University’s School of Hotel Administration and The Culinary Institute of America where he finished first in his class.

Gabe’s culinary style is an intersection of technique and creating something absolutely delicious. Bringing life to nature’s bounty, the result is flavorful, seasonal cuisine that is accessible to the home cook, a basis of inspiration for the professional chef and relatable to all.

Most recently, Gabe won ABC’s primetime show “The Taste” where he was deemed “America’s best undiscovered cook” by Anthony Bourdain, Nigella Lawson, Marcus Samuelsson, and Ludo Lefebvre. He is now Visiting Executive Chef at Bon Appetite. You can learn more about him on his website.
