2026 NYC GALA HONOREE
C.S. Venkatakrishnan (“Venkat”) was appointed Barclays Group Chief Executive in 2021.
Venkat joined Barclays in 2016 as Chief Risk Officer and was appointed Head of Global Markets and Co-President of Barclays Bank PLC in 2020. He brings more than three decades of global financial services experience spanning risk management, capital markets, and investment banking. Prior to Barclays, he spent over 20 years at JPMorgan Chase, where he held a number of senior leadership positions across Asset Management, Investment Banking and Risk.
In addition to leading Barclays, Venkat serves on several industry and non-profit boards, including the MIT CEO Advisory Board, the Institute of International Finance, the Bank Policy Institute, and as Vice Chair of FCLTGlobal. In 2024, he was appointed Chair of the Financial Services Taskforce of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, helping mobilize collaboration across the financial sector to support the transition to a net-zero economy.

Sophie is originally from Ireland and has been working with nonprofits and charities in New York for 8 years. She is a Master of Ceremonies and Auctioneer, and has already fundraised over half a million dollars for non profits on stage in 2025. Sophie ran the NYC Marathon in 2025 for Concern and is passionate about supporting the work Concern does. She is known for her infectious energy and trademark Irish charm.
