Bombing in Lebanon: Concern Featured on CNN International
Concern Worldwide is supporting displaced people fleeing the escalating conflict in Lebanon as it appeals for more funding for relief efforts.
Sherzada Khan, Concern Lebanon Country Director, spoke with Julia Chatterly on CNN International about the humanitarian situation in Lebanon:
Concern's Response
Concern, which has worked in Lebanon since 2013, is simultaneously responding to the needs of Syrian and Palestinian people displaced from their countries while also supporting vulnerable Lebanese households affected by Lebanon's 2019 economic crisis.
Concern is supporting people fleeing from escalating conflict in Lebanon with:
- Shelter: Concern is working with the UN High Commission for Refugees and the Lebanese Red Cross to provide emergency shelter in the north of the country. In addition, Concern is assessing unoccupied buildings and bringing them up to standard so that they can be used as emergency accommodation.
- Psychosocial Support: Concern is providing Psychosocial First Aid for adults and Focused Psychosocial Support (PSS) sessions for children in 10 centers hosting displaced people along with psychosocial support to children who fled the violence.
- Emergency Cash Assistance: Concern is providing US$90 per household so people can purchase essential items after fleeing their homes with little or nothing.
